In EIKEN, there’s a part where kids will be given 3 hints and choose which or who is being described in the pictures. Since then, I have included this activity in some of my lessons and recently as a free time activity. It’s a great way to improve kids’ vocabulary.
How many Christmas vocabs can you guess?
- He wears a red hat. He has big belly. He gives kids presents on Christmas.
- It’s green and tall. You decorate it with lights. Santa puts the presents under it.
- It wears a hat. It’s small. It helps Santa make the presents.
- It’s a decoration. It’s gold. You put it on top of the Christmas tree.
- It’s round or circle. It’s green. It has a hole and looks like a doughnut.
- It’s an animal. It has four legs. It pulls Santa’s sleigh.
- It’s sweet. It’s round. It’s gold outside and brown inside.
- You can see it outside. It’s white and cold. It has a carrot nose.
- It’s a food you eat on Christmas with your family. It’s yummy. It looks like a chicken.
- It has a hole. It’s on the roof. Santa gets into the house through this.
If you know the answers, please feel free to include this as free time activity during Christmas week. You may also use simple words and gestures so that kids will understand it better and give the correct answer. Our goal is for the kids to name as much Christmas vocabs. To make it more fun, I ask group of kids to draw their answer on the whiteboard while I countdown. It was fun because they could show their artistic sides and silly drawings!
