Last week, October 6 th , 2025, a housing event was held at Fairy Square Utsunomiya. As joint activity, we also held an English story reading for families with their babies and toddlers.
I read them the universal story of The Hungry Caterpillar. It was a good choice because we already have some useful materials/props that made it appealing to kids. One of the parents even took a video of her child who actively participated in the story reading. It was heart-warming to see little kids enjoy the story even if it was told in another language.
Since it’s Halloween month, we also had a famous story in Japan which was translated to English as Ghost Tempura. A rabbit was cooking a delicious tempura which had a very captivating smell that attracted the ghost from the mountains. The ghost went inside the house through the keyhole and made his way through the kitchen. He was eating the cooked tempura until he fell accidentally into the batter used to make the tempura. a ghost tempura.
I think this story was really good because it’s famous so, even the kids were already familiar to this story. Next time, I will make some props to make it more engaging.

It was very cozy because the story telling event was held in one of the model houses.
