Previously I conducted speaking tests to our kids. This is to make an accurate assessment for their evaluation. Also, I easily found out which areas they need to focus on. With this, I was able to make simple activities that they can do after finishing their homework.
First graders are now practicing writing the alphabets at random using familiar pictures. After they write the initial letter, they will come to me to have it check and they’ll also say each phonic sound. It has become easier to do our phonics lesson because of this activity. They can also do it with their friends, and recite the phonics with gestures that I taught them.
Second to fourth graders have started writing simple sentences by answering questions about themselves. I have noticed that our children can easily answer Q and A orally. Now, I would like them to practice writing so that they can remember how the words are spelled. At first, most of them would come to me to ask how certain words are spelled. They could also look at our classroom posters to check spelling. But recently, some of them could write the answers by themselves. Also, we can practice writing properly with spaces and correct punctuations. Children enjoy writing using whiteboard markers rather than the pencils so I made this laminated activities which are reusable.
