My style of teaching always encourages students to speak the target language. Integrating role-play aims to improve students’ fluency and communication skills. Creating authentic scenarios is a good opportunity for kids to practice speaking the language that they’ve just learned.
I made a role-play wall in our lesson room and put up pictures of scenarios where kids can apply the English expressions I’m teaching.
It’s a lot easier to teach them because they can see pictures and read the dialogue with me during practice. Then, they’ll do it by pairs changing some of the phrases. After this practice, we can do an actual role-play using realia, toys, and picture cards.
