Recognizing good behavior and small achievements in class is always vital to motivate students. Giving rewards make students strive more and show positive behavior which can improve both learning and teaching experience.

I started giving out lesson badges after our lessons to recognize students’ efforts in class. Initially, I made these badges so that I can easily talk to parents on how their children behave in class and what progress they achieve in our lesson. I’m surprised to see its great help in my classroom management. Of course, there will be times that kids would be rowdy and misbehave in class. Having this reward system has helped me reinforce classroom rules. It has shown positive effects to my students and they tend to become more focus in class and display good behavior.

These lesson badges boost students’ confidence and they take pride when they receive one. Students proudly show them to their parents during pick up time. I also have a student whose parent would take picture of his awards! It’s a great way to motivate them to do better because at the end of the lesson their efforts are all appreciated.
