We are holding a special Christmas week at Yumekirara School. From December 9th to 13th, our students can invite their friends to our school and experience a full day of fun learning about Christmas.
I prepared a special theme this year to know different Christmas cultures around the world. I was inspired by our school’s country research and thought I could make some lessons to talk about Christmas around the world. Then, I thought of decorating our school based on this lesson. So, when children come, they’ll see an advent calendar. Making an advent calendar is a tradition in Switzerland. Children awaits each day as they open the bag with surprise treats inside.

In the Philippines, children enjoy Christmas caroling. It starts from the night of December 16th when the novena masses are held. Group of children meet after the sun has set with their DIY drums made from a big can of milk, and a tambourine made from bottle caps. They go around the neighborhood to sing Christmas carols. After singing, families would give them some coins. Then, they’ll distribute the collected coins equally among members.
I also made a lesson about Christmas food. I was happy to research about this topic and learn other countries famous food on Christmas.
