This month, parents are allotting time to have a meeting with one of our teachers to talk about their children’s progress and development.
To track student’s learning development, teachers are making progress report card that shows which areas the kids excel and the ones they need to focus or improve on. Parents can see what are their children’s strong points and weaknesses.
It is also important for the teachers to keep a record of students’ progress so that we can reflect on what are the needs of each student and how we can improve our teaching strategies for better learning acquisition.
At Yumekirara, we are using various kinds of test to evaluate each student. We have a written test that measures students’ listening and grammar. We are also giving them speaking test in which they will use the target expressions they’ve learned in situational contexts. We also have sets of phonic tests with levels of difficulty.
Last month, children took their written test for the previously discussed units. The test consists of listening and writing. It was great to see some students who perfected it on their first take. Kids could get almost a full score for the listening test!
It’s also a good opportunity to discuss with the parents their children’s behavior and how we can improve their positive interaction with other students. Afterall, Yumekirara is children’s second home, where kids’ English abilities and holistic developments are honed.
