Yumekirara finally had its first English summer camp in Nasu on August 7th to 9th. A total of 24 kids including the students from English cram school joined the said camp.
Everyone assembled at Yumekirara School around 9:00 am. We arrived at noon time in the camping site and enjoyed our packed lunch. We had a brief orientation with the staff and had a simple English game. The game aimed to instill to the students the importance of teamwork.
Children enjoyed cooking curry, watermelon smashing, nature exploration with some world quiz, treasure hunting, foreign games, craft activity, and of course some English class with writing activities. On the final day, kids presented a speech they made during their English writing activity.
I was so happy to see kids’ effort in communicating with me in English for the entire summer camp. They were really trying their best to get the message across using simple English words. Also, they helped each other during their speech practice. It was indeed a great experience for everyone to completely immerse in this 3-day summer camp!
